OpenSUSE notes

 This tutorial is intended for deployments of OpenSUSE/SUSE that don't have a GUI.

Configuring OpenSUSE to gain network access.

By default networking is disabled in OpenSUSE.  To enable it to gain access to the fun web and the packages that it contains, do the following:

cd /etc/sysconfig/network

 There may be a long file located in that directory that contains a MAC address.  If there is then you want to copy that to eth1.  If that isn't there then copy eth0 to eth1.

In my config I had to copy eth0 to eth1 so it looked like this:

cp ifcfg-eth0 ifcfg-eth1

Make sure also that the firewall is disabled for OpenSUSE otherwise that too can hinder your access.  To do so do the following:

 vi /etc/sysconfig/network/config

change the Firewall settings so it reads:

FIREWALL="no"

YAST

YAST(Your Awesome Setup Tool) is a configuration management interface for OpenSUSE.
